XUEFEI YANG, China

THE EXTRAORDINARY, INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED GUITARIST, XUEFEI YANG, COMES TO THE MARLOW SERIES.

Born in Beijing and now based in London, this gifted musician was the first guitarist in China to enter a music school, the first to graduate from The Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing with a BA degree and the first Chinese guitarist to study classical guitar in the West.

Now Ms. Yang tours the world as a brilliant performer whose playing excites her audiences. When John Williams heard Ms. Yang, he was so impressed with her ability, he presented her with one of his Smallman guitars which she will be playing on March 20th.

You will want to hear both Ms. Yang and her guitar, in what we expect to be another stirring debut performance.

Xuefei Yang's Master Class will take place at George Washington University on March 21st from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Auditors $10 at the door.

THE GRAND MAESTRO, PEPE ROMERO, Spain

HEADLINES THE 2009-2010 SEASON

There are very few living legends in the world of classical music who have sustained a greatness that has grown throughout their careers. Pepe Romero is such an artist.

Sr. Romero has been honored by kings, heads of state, the Pope and major institutions. But to Sr. Romero, his most important thought is to touch the hearts of audiences throughout the world, communicating the richness and beauty of his instrument.

Indeed, Pepe Romero continues the great tradition of Andres Segovia by becoming an ambassador of classical music and the classical guitar.

Sr. Romero is looking forward to returning and playing for his many Marlow Series’ fans. Be there to welcome this great artist back to our Series.

CARLOS PEREZ, Chile

A PROFOUND YOUNG ARTIST WHO HAS THE ABILITY TO INSPIRE HIS AUDIENCES, MAKES HIS MARLOW SERIES DEBUT

Chilean born, Carlos Perez, greatly impressed us when he last performed in Washington.

In the audience was our good friend Jorge Sobredo, Spanish Cultural Attaché, who told us how profoundly moved he was with Carlos’ musicality.

Writing in the Missouri newspaper, St. Louis Today, the music critic had this to say of Carlos Perez’ ability:….. “Perez is a marvelous artist, fleet of finger, facile but never shallow. He is at home in a variety of styles and brought them all to vivid musical life.” (April 4, 2007)

Now, what remains, is for you to hear for yourself the warm, engaging musical personality of Carlos Perez and to meet him in person at our free “Meet the Artist” reception!

RUPERT BOYD, Australia
Washington Post Review- January 31, 2010

ANOTHER AMAZING, “MUST-HEAR” PERFORMER
Australian-born Rupert Boyd’s first solo recording, VALSES POETICOS, (released June, 2008), was reviewed in the British magazine, Classical Guitar, as follows:

“The performances that Boyd gives here are first rate….altogether, this is a fine CD from a player who deserves to be heard.”…

And, that’s exactly why we have engaged Mr. Boyd to play for you.

Rupert Boyd is a very gifted, technically brilliant and musical performer. You don’t want to miss what we expect to be another exciting Marlow Series debut performance.
