The International Conservatory of Music
14th SEASON - 2007 - 2008

About Us

The International Conservatory of Music (ICM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public charity, and was incorporated in the District of Columbia in 1980 and registered in the State of Maryland in 1995.

One of the missions of ICM is to enrich the musical life of the residents of metropolitan Washington, D.C.  In the past 20 years, ICM has presented over 100 events, co-sponsoring with universities, Embassies, Federal Government agencies, Public School systems, and other community and cultural organizations.

John E. Marlow was a composer, performer and educator. A faculty member of the American University, John inspired and assisted generations of guitar lovers with his talent, commitment to excellence and personality. Few are the guitar professionals in Washington whose work was not touched by John. The Conservatory and Washington's guitar community have chosen to commemorate this outstanding human being with an annual living memorial--The John E. Marlow Guitar Series.

Mailing list and complimentary door prizes:
When you present your ticket to each performance of the series, you are entitled to fill out a voucher to qualify for a free door prize offering. Often the prizes include a CD of the artist of the evening or other artists of interest. The Conservatory intends to use the information you provide to create a mailing list to inform you of future performances. We do not sell or rent this mailing list. If you do not wish to be put on this mailing list, but would like to be in the drawing, simply put your name only on the voucher.

Concert guitar raffle:
This season we will have willing guitar shops who generously contribute one of their new concert model classical guitars with a quality carrying case for us to raffle off in support of the Marlow Guitar series. These guitars may be seen at each performance of the series at a special raffle table in the lobby or the rear of the hall. You are invited to purchase raffle tickets for $5 each or $20 for five tickets. A guitar will be presented to a lucky winner at each of the performances.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR PROGRAMS FOR CURRENT RULES

Wine, mineral water and cheese and fruit reception:
Following each performance, concert goers are invited to join the artist and Board of Directors and friends of the Series for a complimentary reception, with the exception of "Flamenco Night", when tapas and wine will be served BEFORE the concerts at 6:30pm. The intent of these receptions is twofold: one, to allow attendees the opportunity to meet the performers and two, to have a social event where attendees can renew established and create new friendships with fellow guests having a common interest--love of the guitar.
